QUESTION PATTERN

  • The Olympiad Examinations are based on the internationally harmonized syllabus for each subject. Questions in the examinations are mainly based on the school syllabus of the student. For the benefit of the students, WOA has provided detailed syllabi for each standard and we recommend looking into the syllabus before appearing in the exams.

  • All the examinations will be based on the objective type questions. There is no negative marking for any wrong answer.

EXAM SYLLABUS

World Mathematics Olympiad (WMO)

1. Numbers
Large numbers like Millions, Billions, Trillions, etc. Comparison of large numbers, place values in the large numbers, estimation to the nearest tens, hundreds, thousands, estimation of sum and difference, rounding off a number. whole numbers, natural numbers, use of number line, predecessor and successor of large numbers


2. LCM and HCF
Factors and multiples, prime and composite numbers, factors and common multiples, prime factorization, calculation of HCF and LCM, etc., divisibility of a number


3. Geometry and Elementary Shapes
Basic geometry, point, line, line segment, parallel lines, ray, curves, polygons, angles, circles, triangles, quadrilateral, etc. various designs and shapes, right and straight angles, acute, obtuse and reflex angles, perpendicular lines, classification of triangles, the bisector of an angle, the perpendicular bisector of a line segment


4. Integers
Introduction to integers, ordering of integers, addition of integers, etc., representation of integers on the number line, addition and substation of integers using number lines.


5. Fractions and Decimals
Fraction on number line, knowledge of proper fractions, equivalent fractions, like fractions, comparing like or unlike fractions, adding or subtracting like fractions, etc., the value of decimals in numbers, uses of decimals in tenths, hundredths, etc., application of the decimals in real-life applications like money and weight, introduction of percentage.

 

6. Data Management
Management of big data, concepts of recording, organizing, and drawing of the graphical data, calculation of the values with the help of the data in the pictograph form, line graph, bar graph.


7. Mensuration
Calculating various shapes, designs, and figures with the help of their area and volume, perimeter, area, and their measurement of the basic shapes like square and rectangle.


8. Algebra
Introduction to algebra and its uses in mathematical problems, use of variables in the common expressions, finding the value of a variable, equation forming, and solution of simple equations.


9.  Ratio

Concept of ratio and proportion their uses, examples for ratio and proportion, unitary method.

 

10.Symmetry 

Symmetry and its real-life applications, lines of symmetry (single and multiple), reflection, and symmetry

 

11. Logical Reasoning

logical reasoning and critical thinking, sequencing of patterns and numbers

World Cyber Olympiad (WCO)

1. Computer system and its parts

2. Introduction to MS Word
Text and paragraph formatting, inserting header, footer, shapes, images, and hyperlinks, drop cap and page column, mail merge, and different steps involved in the process, envelope, and labels


3. Introduction to MS Excel
Creating a table and quick analysis using different charts, sorting and filtering the data, Built-in functions and cell references, conditional formatting, workbooks and worksheets, and their protection.


4. Introduction to MS PowerPoint
Inserting images, audio, video, Word arts, etc. adding animations and transitions in slides, using slide master, changing themes and colour combinations within a theme


5. Introduction to HTML
HTML and its usage, Basic tags like head, title, body, h1, br,p, etc, form and Input tag, Empty and Container tags

 

6. Internet and Networks
Introduction to Internet and Intranet, Web browser, websites and web pages, Search engines, Using email, Pros and cons of social media sites, Networks, and its types, intranet and internet


7. Files and Folder Management
Creating files and folders, transferring files from one location/device to another location/device, Introduction to cloud storage, using g-drive to upload, organize and share the data, the meaning of different file formats i.e. jpeg, mp3, mp4, doc, Xls, etc., sharing a file on network
